"Art is not a job - its a way of life."

I've always had a love of drawing - most of the times I got in trouble in school was for drawing in class. I first got involved with the arts many years ago when I attempted to do painting as a Christmas present for my wife - we actually had it hanging for a few years. I've been hooked ever since.

I first attended painting classes at our local high school and the Cheltenham Center for the Arts. Later, at the suggestion of a drawing instructor, I entered the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, where I completed drawing and life drawing classes.

I don't exhibit in shows or galleries and have not entered any competitions for awards. My work is included in a number of private collections, and in the homes of friends, neighbors, and relatives.

As you can see from the samples, I mainly do landscapes. I have worked in oil, acrylic, and watercolor, and in pencil, pen and ink, and pastel. I have also done silk screen prints and monotypes and have done a few pieces of sculpture, modeling with wax or clay, then casting the work in hydrocal.

I usually work from nature and start with a quick sketch to work out the composition. Once satisfied, I begin the actual piece. Most of the work is done on site but is often finished in the studio from sketches and reference photographs.
